Awesome Sunset

There was a very stunning sunset at the cottage this weekend. Jonathan and I were able to take a few photos to capture the moment. The last picture is of Jessie going for an early morning paddle on the same day.

The Float is In!

We have a 10x12 Float that is moored in front of the cottage. It requires a major undertaking to haul up for the winter. This year Jonathan did most of the work. Niko went along for the ride and got in a bit of sea time. A long ‘push’ is required to bring it to the beach where we can haul it out for the winter and a lot of 'grunt' work with a come along to get it up for safe storage. We have purchased an electric winch for this task; however, I was unable to get it rigged up this year.

Camp Renovations Update
Report #2

We got underway with the excavating and foundation preparations for the boathouse/studio this weekend (Oct 14 & 15). On Saturday it was very rainy and a bit of a mud bath was created. By the end of the day on Sunday the hole was dug, gravel laid and the drain pipes in. The next steps will be to put in the slab insulation, build the forms and place the rebar prior to pouring the concrete. Once the slab is done a back wall and two ‘knee’ walls have to be added before the framing starts. The contractor hopes to have the slab poured before this coming weekend.
