A Weekend at Liscombe Lodge
October 12th to 14th, 2007
We spent the weekend at Liscombe Lodge with our good friends, the Forbes. The weather on Friday afternoon and evening was nothing less than a tropical downpour and the drive there was a bit challenging. Saturday was overcast and cool. Fortunately, Sunday turned into a beautiful day.
Overall, the weekend turned into a fantastic time. The food was great, Anne and Genevieve spent Saturday at Sherbrooke Village while Steve, Bob and Chris motored along the Eastern Shore visiting such exotic spots as Wine Harbour, the Goldboro Gas Plant and Bill Carpan, a well know fly tier from Stillwater. He showed me how to do a married wing and donated two pairs of wing feathers for me to practice with.
On Sunday, we went for a walk on the Liscombe River Trail and then enjoyed a leisurely drive home. The dogs had a great time and got along well, there was lots of wildlife to see and Chris found a few opportunities to sneak in some fishing and tie flies
