We are getting new front steps

The concrete on our entrance steps has been deteriorating over the years and the top slab is dropping down where it meets the house. A&H Renovations will be replacing the old concrete with a new set of wooden steps. They started today and broke up most of the old concrete. It was quite a surprise to see that the concrete slab was not pinned to the house wall. It is a wonder that it didn't fall down completely.

A couple of shots of the steps:

An Evening Out

We had a great evening out at Ray and Barb's on March 13, 2007. Barb prepared a delicious scallop casserole along with asparagus and rice pilaf. We spent a lot of time discussing the merits of various software applications. I had an introduction to Microsoft Vista and their new 'high tech mouse'. This old codger didn't fare too well with the new stuff.

Fly Tying

I have been having a lot of enjoyment tying files with a young enthusiast, Chris Forbes. His father (Steve) and I worked together at BIO for years and the three of us had a great fishing trip to the Margaree River last spring. Chris has taken up fly tying and is doing a great job at tying a variety of different patterns. He has tied Muddler Minnows, Wulff Patterns, Mickey Fins, Dark Montreals, Ants and a variety of Foam Patterns. The two photos show Chris at work on a Dark Montreal.
