Figureiredo MacKnight Wedding

July 7, 2007

We were very fortunate to be invited to the wedding of Giselle Figueiredo and Eric MacKnight on July 7, 2007. The ceremony was held on the Tall Ship Silva. The weather on Saturday cooperated with a beautiful sunny afternoon, pleasantly mild temperatures and calm seas. At the beginning of the second dogwatch (6 PM), the ship cast off. The wedding ceremony took place adjacent to George’s Island with the exchanging of the vows and signing of the registry being held on the 'poop deck'. Once the 'knot had been tied' the ship motored to the Northwest Arm where all guests enjoyed a lavish meal, dancing and a short stint under full sail. A ‘down the hatch’ to the bride was proposed by the groom’s brother. The ship came alongside midway through the first night watch (10:00 PM) with all passengers accounted for. Everyone really enjoyed the unique venue, gourmet food, fine 'grog', 'cups of Joe', 'scuttlebutt' and all the friendship. Given the festive mood, it was surprising that the captain did not have to 'keelhaul' or force a few guests to 'walk the plank'.
