Brian & Karen's Wedding
On a rainy Saturday, August 18/07, Karen McAlpine and Brian Foster wed at the Grace United Church in downtown Dartmouth. As people began arriving, the skies opened for a torrential rainfall that mostly soaked Bill, dad of the groom, who with his trusty umbrella was Sir Gallahad - helping people from their cars into the church. Inside the sanctuary all was calm as Brian and Karen were joined in marriage. The bride and groom were radiant when pronounced man and wife by the two officiating ministers - Rev. Stephen Fram of Grace United and Brian's long time minister, and Rev. Susan McAlpine-Gillis of Cole Harbour United and cousin of Karen.
The rain eventually let up and allowed all to get to the Royal Artillary Park in Halifax for the reception. It was an informal gathering with wonderful food, good wine and a chance for all the guests to intermingle. Old friends caught up on their news and new friends were made. Along with Karen and Brian, their parents - Jim and Barb McAlpine and Bill and Sandy Foster- felt very blessed in all the love and support for the couple as they begin this new phase of their life.
